

Irene Fitzpatrick, 89 of Albion, passed on July 17, 2022 after a long illness. She was born November 8, 1932 in Prestonsburg, KY to Kelly and Gladys Haywood. On August 29, 1949 she married Carl Fitzpatrick. Together they had 3 children, Carol Sue, Larry Dean and Wanda Louise. They moved to Michigan shortly after they married where she worked at Corning Glass Works and Al’s Thriftway of Springport. In 1967 she bought and operated her own business, The Albion Meat Locker until she retired in 2004. For a short time she worked at Piccadilly Restaurant for her niece.
Irene spent several years on many bowling leagues. She enjoyed music and could dance for hours. She liked serving the Albion Community, gardening, beautiful flowers, candles, watching the Detroit Tigers, collecting bells, taking photographs and traveling. But mostly she loved taking care of and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Albion Moose Lodge #406 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She also attended Grace Free Will Baptist Church.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her daughter Carol, special friend Edd Blasingim, her brother Jack and sisters Myrtle and Avelee.
Surviving are: son, Larry (Marian) Fitzpatrick, daughter, Wanda (Dave) Cooley, grandchildren: Tim Caudill, Jessica Hazel, Gina Fox, Brandy Cooley, Carrie Schleich and David King, great-grandchildren: Alexandra, Nicholas, Elijah, Maddison, Zeth, Gavin, Chase, Sara, Kelsey, Zachary, Tyler, Michael, Alexis, Georgia and James, great-great grandchildren: Emerson, Amelia, Liam, Wyatt, Rosemary, Olivia, Leighanna and Lydia, sisters: Alta Riddle and Christine Hanks, lifelong friend, Elaine Jones and several nieces and nephews.
Irene’s family will celebrate her life on Friday, July 22, 2022 beginning with visitation at 11AM until the time of service at 1PM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Dr., Albion, MI with burial to follow at Albion Memory Gardens.
