

Jack Robert VanDyke, 95, of Traverse City, originally from Albion, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions Rehab Center. He was born January 4, 1921 in Coldwater, Michigan to Peter and Jennie (Fisher) VanDyke.
Jack served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was married to Louetta Mock and moved to Albion in 1946 where he began his lifelong career at Citizens Lumber Company, working there for 50 years.
Jack is survived by two daughters, Diana (William) Klein of Kalkaska and Deena (Gary) Yokom of Williamsburg; five grandchildren, Shane (Krista) Yokom, Brett Yokom, Bethany Yokom (and fiancé Adam Osler), Kristen Klein, and Nick (Megan) Klein; seven great-grandchildren, Garrick and Alyssa Yokom, Araya and Noah Bennett, Cayla and Kate Cataline, Beckett Klein and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are a brother, Richard VanDyke, and sister, Ruth Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louetta, son, Dennis, sisters Mary VanDyke, Betty VanDyke, Alice VanDyke and Helen (Willis) Peters.
Jack was most happy spending time with his family and fishing with his sons-in law and grandsons on the Tahquamenon River in the U.P., a yearly event. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 3:00 – 5:00PM at
the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, Michigan 49224. A private burial
will be held at Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Al Henson officiating.
