

Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Allegiance Hospice in Jackson, Michigan. Mr. Young was born in Albion, Michigan, August 8, 1925 to James and Anna (Radtke) Young. He was preceded in Death by brothers Benjamin, Richard, Charles (Bob), and sisters Elsie Watson, Dorothy Hageman, Caroline Stumpf, Evelyn Hartung, and Elaine Schultz. Mr. Young married Adeline (Magnotta) Young in December of 1944 while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She preceded him in death in 2009. Mr. Young joined the Navy where he was a member of the V-12 Navy college training program at Milligan College, Tennessee, followed by deck officer training at the University of South Carolina, having earned two years of college credit in the Navy. Completed his degree in mathematics at Albion College, becoming the first member of his family to earn a college degree. Mr. Young taught math at Albion High School, and the last 20 years of his career at Jackson High School. Mr. Young has been in business in Albion since 1956, either owning or operating Young’s Tasty Freeze, This Ole House Pizza, Five Points Laundromat, Shortstoppe Party Store, and Young’s Pharmacy. Mr. Young was past president of Albion Lions Club, and a member of American Legion and Albion Elk’s Club.
Mr. Young is survived by sons James (Sally) Young, Richard (Marie) Young, Thomas (Denise) Young, Joseph (Janet) Young, David Young, Jeffrey(Jody) Young, daughter Victoria (Patrick) Momont-Young, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 11:00AM at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion Michigan 49224 with Pastor Dennis Matyas officiating.
