

Jimmie was born on June 7, 1942 in Evergreen, AL to the late Deacon Ervin and Mrs. Charlotte (Dees) Travis, Sr.
He graduated from Conecuh County Training School with honors in 1960. Following his big brother Ervin Jr. to
Michigan, he moved to Albion in 1961 where he found
employment at the former Albion Malleable, retiring after 40 years and 9 months of diligent service. After his first
retirement, Jimmie returned to work driving for the Michigan Works/Work First Program for 10 years.
In 1971, Jimmie met Mary Lee Cage at the bowling alley,
marrying her later that same year. Jimmie was baptized at an early age at the Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church in
Evergreen, AL, serving as an Usher. Jimmie joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church where he was ordained and served as a Deacon and also sang in the church choir until his health began to decline.
An avid sports fan, he liked all of Michigan sports, supporting and rooting for whatever Michigan team playing at the time in the areas of football, basketball and baseball.
Jimmie was an accomplished bowler, having accumulated many trophies and accolades, breaking many records and competing in numerous tournaments, having his name put into the Hall of Fame for Bowling in St. Louis, MO.
Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories, wife of 46 years, Mary Travis; Daughters: Carolyn Little of Castleberry, AL, Katie Cage of Albion, MI; Sons: Charlie Richardson of New York, NY, Charles Love of Albion, MI, Patrick Jones of Atlanta, GA; 9 Grandchildren; 27 Great-Grandchildren and 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Rosetta McCreary of Evergreen, AL, Mattie Travis of Albion, MI, Lula Travis of Evergreen, AL, Annie Mae (Alfonza) Jackson of Pensacola, FL, Annie Pearl Jacobs of Evergreen, AL, Mary Travis of Castleberry, AL and Brother, Billy (Traci) Jackson of Columbus, SC.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy Taylor-Travis, brothers, Ervin Travis Jr., and Willie Earl Travis.
Funeral Service will be at Bethel Baptist Church, 523 Washington Street, Albion, Michigan 49224 with family hour starting one hour prior to service with Rev. Charlie J. Jones Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Albion Memory Gardens, Albion.
