John Wade Titus III

John Wade Titus III, age 84, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023. He was born on December 6, 1938 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of J. Wade Titus II and Evelyn M. (Cody) and they precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Priscilla M Purton.

John was a 1956 graduate of Central High School in Kalamazoo.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Titus of Mesa, AZ, daughter, Melinda M. Titus (James Chadwick) of Richland, MI, son, Cody J. Titus (Ginger Healey Titus) of Otsego, MI, step-son, Todd R. Stinnett of Galesburg, MI, several cousins, all female who picked on him throughout his childhood years, grandchildren, Kirsten (Kit) Titus and Jenni Landers, step-grandchildren, Jimmy Chadwick, Katie Chadwick, Neal Stinnett, Grace Verhage. Taryn Verhage and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

John was the owner of Titus Construction Company, Galesburg, MI. He began working at Titus along with his father Wade. Some of the larger projects of Titus Construction were the Fisher Body plant in Kalamazoo and the ViaDuct underpass in Kalamazoo plus miles and miles of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters throughout southwest Michigan. Titus Construction celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998 with a big party. Many past employees, friends and family members enjoyed the day.

He spent several years of his life on Gull Lake and enjoyed boating, skiing, swimming and the winter sports such as snow-mobiles and snow skiing. John was an avid car collector; some of his favorites were '32 and '48 Fords, and even Jeeps when he lived in Arizona.

John retired from Titus Construction in 1998 and moved with his wife Barbara to Arizona where they built a home in the desert with a four car garage to keep his hobby alive

A graveside service for John will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Military Honors at Mt Ever Rest Memorial Park, Kalamazoo, MI.
