

by her side. Mamie was born on Thursday, April 7, 1929 in Taft, Williamsburg County, South
Carolina to the late Rollin and Oretta (Bradley) Conyers. She attended school in South Carolina, later in life she graduated from Albion Public Schools.
She was the sixth born child of ten children. She worked at the Calhoun Nursing Home and later at the Provincial House Retirement Home both in Marshall, Michigan where she retired after 50 plus years of service. She continued on after that caring for children in various agencies in Albion, Michigan. She was baptized at an early age and was a 70 year member of the Leggett chapel AME Zion Church in Albion, Michigan. She loved to have family gatherings, attending every Conyers Family Reunion in her lifetime. She also loved gardening at her home. She loved her sweet’s, especially peanut M & M’s.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Mary Stein (Tony) and Ruth Gamble (Gerald) both of Battle Creek, MI; sons, Wesley (Sharon) Gamble of Indianapolis, Indiana, Robert Frank (Annie) Gamble of Lansing, MI; special grandchildren, Willie Tyrone (Patty) Stein of Seattle, WA and Koreena Richardson of Lansing, MI; special niece, Margie Edwards of Tallahassee, Fl; special nephew, Howard Swinton of Albion, MI; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 7 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Newell of Buffalo, NY and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, brothers, Robert and Franklin Conyers; sisters, Mattie Williams, Pearl Clark, Eliza Swinton, Margaret Conyers, Lillie Mae Henryhand and Ida Moses; daughters, Kordell Richardson and Roslyn Gamble; granddaughters, Charlotte “Char” and Kerlinda “Vi” Richardson, Victoria “Vicky” Davis; grandsons, Troy Gamble and Jay-Jay Stein.
Family Hour will be Friday, August 14, 2020 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM at J. Kevin Tidd
Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224 with the service starting at 1:00PM
with Reverend April Sumrow officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
