Michael A. Zenker

Michael A. Zenker, 58, of Albion passed away Friday October 7, 2011 at his residnece after a long struggle with A.L.S “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”. He was born June 27, 1953 in Eaton Rapids, Michigan to Bruce and Edna (Wetmore) Zenker. He was married to Donna J. Schmidt in Springport on May 1, 1976 and she is surviving.

He previously had worked at the Calhoun County Fairgrounds and MarLee Schools in the Maintenance Department before becoming a school bus driver for the MarLee School system. He was a member of the Springport United Methodist Church and was president of the Trustees of the Church for many years. He also was a 4-H leader for 35 years for the “MakeMasters” 4-H club. He was a Olivet F.F.A alumnus and enjoyed collecting scrapmetal and camping at Prairieville Farm Days. Michael had also been a Cub Scout Leader Pack 383 at the MarLee Schools for many years. A very special memory that Donna has of their time together is of the trip that they took to Maui for their 35th wedding anniversary.

Besides his wife Donna, he is survived by 1 Daughter Kalli Zenker of Albion; 2 Sons Jaime (Jonell) Zenker of Springport and Todd (Girlfriend Dusty) Zenker of Olivet; 2 Grandchildren Jayna and Josie; His Mother Edna Horsfall of Springport; 1 Sister Becky (Jeff) Hughey of Roscommon, MI; 4 Brothers Pat (Cathy) Zenker of Springport, Tom (Cindy) Zenker of Missouri, Chris ( Leslie) Zenker of Onondaga, and Doug Zenker of Springport; Father in law George Schmidt of Springport. He was preceded in death by his Father Bruce Zenker.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be Monday October 10, 2011 from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley Drive, Albion, MI 49224. Funeral Services will be Tuesday October 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Melissa Claxton officiating. Burial will follow at Clarence Center Cemetery.
