

Bob lived his entire life in the Albion/Marshall area except for his time in the US Army during WWII. Bob was deployed to Italy with the 82nd airborne. After his honorable discharge Bob married JoAnn Phelps. They were married for 55 years and had 4 children. JoAnn died in 2005. Bob is survived by 3 daughters Judy (Ken) Danhof, Susie (Boyd) Ray, Brenda (Mike) Freeman. Son Robert Jr. died in 1986. Also surviving are grandchildren Jason Ray, Jamie (Dani) Ray, Clint Weakley, Shannon Freeman, Michael (Jalisa) Danhof. Great grandchildren Alex, Kenny, Brandon, Luke and Calvin will all miss “Big Poppa”. Bob was dedicated to his family, especially son Bobby, a special needs child. Bob was passionate about fishing and hunting although his grandchildren were more interested in his cooking during annual deer camp.
He spent a number of years employed at Union Steel in Albion. Bob worked with his hands including building his own house with instructions from Sears & Roebuck. He could repair pretty much anything.
Visitation for Robert will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 beginning at 10AM until the time of service at 11AM at J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home, 811 Finley DR., Albion officiated by Pastor Allen Henson. He will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery, Albion with Military Honors.
