Sharon Joan Rice

Sharon J. Rice age 78 of Albion passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at home under the loving care of her family and Oaklawn Hospice. She was born in Albion on August 7, 1938 the daughter of Elmer and Muriel (Burkwalt) Wallace. Sharon was a 1956 graduate of Albion High School and on January 26, 1957, she married her high school Sweetheart, Emerson Rice. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. After high school, Sharon earned her Dietary degree and worked as a dietary assistant. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed time spent with her family, especially watching her sons and grandchildren play sports. She also enjoyed shopping trips with her sister.

Sharon leaves to cherish her memory, beloved husband, Emerson, sons: Emerson “Mark” Rice (Laura Friia), Lance (Jodee) Rice, Scott (Karyn) Rice; grandchildren: Marc, Troy and Tiff, Jordan and Alexis, Shane and Julie, Jesse and Nora, Kyle and Debvarsha, Eric and McKenzie; great-grandchildren: Serenity, Kellen, Trevin and Jayce; sisters, Phyllis Cypret, Sue (Loren) Cooper; brother, David (Georgette) Wallace and a great many nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law: Coy Cypret.

Sharon’s family will celebrate her life with a memorial service on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00PM at the First Baptist Church, 980 Haven Rd., Albion with Pastor Thomas Hollowood officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Fund C/O the First Baptist Church.
