

Viola M. Bakus age 93, passed away on April 9, 2020. She was born on November 30, 1926 the daughter of Ollen and Shirley Rodebaugh and they preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband Lewis Bakus, son Bob Bakus, granddaughter Desiree’ Bakus and Brother Olin “Rudy” Rodebaugh. Viola is survived by her sister Beverly Cramer, Daughter Karen (Chuck) Hiatt, Son Steve (Julie) Bakus, Daughter-in-law Janeen Bakus, Grandchildren Kees (Lisa) Hiatt, Kim (Lance) Waito and Stephani Bakus, Great Grandchildren Kora and Maizey Hiatt, and Max, Reese and Braxton Waito. Viola is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her friend Patt Hiatt.
Viola was a graduate of Eastern High School in Lansing, Michigan. She moved to Mason with her husband Lewis where they raised their family in the home they built. Viola moved to Albion in 2007 to live with her daughter Karen and her husband Chuck. There she established a wonderful loving relationship with her grand and great grandchildren.
Viola was an avid painter and crafter. She also volunteered for many years at Kiwanas, Salvation Army and at the time Ingham Medical Hospital in Lansing and numerous other organizations. She loved to travel and made several trips to Europe, Alaska and enjoyed many cruises with her friends.
A private graveside service will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Okemos, Michigan.
