Caleb passed away on August 14th, 2019 at the very young age of 23 leaving behind his son Casey Michael Luckey, his mother Wendi Luckey, his stepfather Brad Hardy, and his sisters Chloe Luckey and Cora Hardy. Others who adored Caleb included his grandparents Bob and Jodi Gibbs, David Luckey, Uncle Michael Luckey (Aubri), Aunt Laurie Jordan (Johnny), Great Grandfather Fred Coffman and many cousins and great aunts and uncles.
From the time he was born, he was told by many that he had an “old soul”, It was almost as if he was a grown man right from the start. He was a calm sweet loving baby which carried on throughout his time on earth. He was also known as a gentle giant. He was the guy who always stood up for the underdog with his kind and loving heart.
He was also known as one of the funniest people you would meet. If you were having a bad day, Caleb would find something to make you laugh, even at yourself and it always helped. He would use humor to lighten up a situation and when you needed a hug, oh those big hugs were the best!
He loved his guitar and would spend hours learning to play any song you asked him to. He learned music without one single guitar lesson. It was one of his many gifts. He would sing and make you want to sing with him, even if you didn’t think you had a good voice. It was all about the joy that music brought, not the talent anyone had. He appreciated music from long ago so much more than today’s music. One of his favorite people to play and sing to was Johnny Cash.
His proudest accomplishment was his precious son, Casey Michael Luckey. He is a little man just like Caleb was. He is beautiful and we are so grateful to have him in our lives. Caleb loved Casey with every part of his being and wanted nothing more than to give Casey the best life ever with a father he could be proud of. Casey was Caleb’s biggest motivator for staying sober.
God knew it was time to bring Caleb home so there would be no more pain and struggle. He had a place prepared for him and we can just hear Caleb seeing this mansion prepared for him saying “ Whoa” in his slow deep voice. We are thankful that Caleb is smiling his beautiful smile, laughing his wonderful laugh and playing all the music he wants for eternity.
For those of you who may be struggling with addiction like Caleb did, please please find help and get sober for yourself, your family and for Caleb. He loved everyone and never judged a soul and would want you to beat this thing that took him away from all of us, and most importantly his son. His biggest help came from Jellinek in Knoxville and we know that he was trying to make plans to go back there again. He was feeling hopeful again because of this possibility. We are so grateful for this place and we ask, in lieu of flowers, that you donate to them in Caleb’s name to help more men that are struggling. Caleb would be honored. Mail to E.M. Jellinek Center 130 Hinton Avenue, Knoxville TN 37917.
Caleb, go rest high on that mountain. You deserve the happiness you have now. We will see you again one day.
His family thanks you for any kind words you would like to share or photos you would like to post of their precious Caleb!
A date for his Celebration of Life Ceremony will be posted at a later date.
