

John Bruce, Brandon Junior, born May 16, 1952 passed away peacefully on November 8, 2022 in Knoxville, Tennessee. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. (affectionately known as big John) and Betty Brandon. He has survived by his three children, Jay (Courtney), Krista and Matthew Brandon. He was proud to be “Poppy” two grandsons Grayson and Ethan. He is also survived about his brother, Robert Brandon (Karen) and they close cousin, Barbara Johnson (Lee).
John was a 1970 graduate of Fulton high school, and attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a 1977 graduate of Samford University, school of pharmacy in Birmingham, Alabama. John worked as an independent pharmacist for many years in Knoxville, with ownership of the Washington Pike pharmacy, and Rocky, Pio pharmacy, before going to work for CVS pharmacy. He was Director of pharmacy for popular Bluff Regional Medical Center. (Missouri) and Director of pharmacy for Sparks Medical Center (Arkansas). John suffered a debilitating stroke in 2011 to force him into early retirement.
John was an avid scuba diver, traveling to places in the Caribbean, and throughout Central and South America for diving. He was certified as a deep-water diver, and divemaster. Even after his stroke, he participated in adaptive, diving with a dive partner. When he wasn’t in a wetsuit, you could find him playing golf. John was convinced that the next new golf club he purchased would be the “one“ to perfect his swing!
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the dedicated healthcare providers StatCare, Fort Sanders, regional hospital, especially on 8 North, and the in-hospital Hospice nurses for their care and concern for John . There will be a prophet graveside service at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the family. He will be laid to rest in the family plot, for his parents are interred. Include flowers, donations to be made to the charity of your choice.
