He was an avid bear hunter and loved to hunt on Chilhowee Mountain. He loved caring for his hunting dogs and horses.
Preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Curtisteen Carey; son, Gary Carey; sister, Phyllis Carroll; nephew, Steve Carey; and brother-in-law, Joe Gibson.
JF is survived by his wife and love of his life for 61 years, Shirley Carey; son, Bobby (Donna) Carey; grandchildren; Jessica (Greg) Cook, Eric (Caitlin) Carey; great-grandchildren, Alden and Easton Carey, Zane and Sage Cook; sisters, Patricia Gibson and Mary Sue McKenzie; brother, Morris Carey; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February, 17, 2019 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, Tennessee 37701. A Chapel Service will follow at 2:00 PM, with interment taking place at 3:00 PM.
