Anyone who knew Linda knows that she LOVED the color PINK, cats, going to the Beach - especially Daytona, and all things that were pink.
Recently, her interests began to include feeding the birds and squirrels that frequented her yard...and carport eventually. She truly had a soft heart for little creatures. (ask us sometime about her pet groundhogs)
Linda was born in Friendsville, and lived a very active life with her family there. She had so many fond memories of her schoolmates and activities at the school across the street from where she lived. Visits from cousins and family from Michigan were highlights of her summers. She loved to spend time in the sun, at the pool wherever she was, and being at the beach the most. She could also often be found shopping alone, because she had to look at EVERYTHING in the store.
After several years with City Drug Pharmacy in downtown Maryville, working with her mother and sister there, Linda found her niche at McGhee Tyson Airport, working behind the Avis and Hertz Rental Car counters for many years, until she was able to retire a little early. (Maybe she treated you to an upgrade at some point.) There were brief wanderings to other cities, like Chattanooga and West Palm Beach, Florida, but Linda wound up back home with her dear Mom, where she'll be remembered lovingly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Helton Sr.; mother, Greta; sister, Trisha; brother, Sonny; and loved aunts and uncles and grandparents. She is survived by niece, Donna (Franklin) and nephews, Dean (Jayne) and Ellis; great-niece Laura (Roy), and great-nephews Dominic and Douglas; special cousins Judy and husband Bob, as well as all of the "Sevier County Gang"; very dear friends Lena, Iva, Joanne, Darlene, and other high school and work buddies through the years; and neighbors that were like family - Lisa, Dianne, Priscilla and Doug.
A Receiving of Friends will be held at Sherwood Chapel & Memorial Gardens, in the Good Shepherd Mausoleum Chapel, 3176 Airport Highway, Alcoa, TN 37701, on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm with a Memorial Service to follow, with Pastor Charles Bailey to officiate . In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to your favorite animal rescue organization. Linda would greatly appreciate that.
Online condolences and fond memories may be shared with Linda's family at www.sherwoodchapel.com
