Brian Herbert Thomasson

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our dear father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend, Brian Thomasson. Brian passed away on July 13, 2020, at the age of 75. Brian was born and raised in the Cloverdale area, and moved to Aldergrove in 1972 where he lived with his wife and family for 48 years. He worked for the Bank of Montreal for 6 years, and then as a teacher and administrator in the Langley School District until he retired. Brian played an active role in the community. He served on the board of directors of the Aldergrove Credit Union as well as that of the Otter Co-op. He was also an active member of Rotary, and founded several Rotary Clubs in the lower mainland. Brian took the Rotary motto “Service above self” to heart, and did his best to make life better for those around him, even complete strangers. He genuinely cared about people and loved meeting and getting to know new people. He was not only a good friend, but he was a best friend to many. We would often joke that a stranger was just a friend that Brian hadn’t met yet. Through good times and hard times, Brian always laughed and appreciated a good joke, and often several bad jokes too! He loved skiing, curling, playing golf at the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club, travelling the world, and spending time laughing and playing cards with his many friends. Brian will be remembered as a hard worker, and a great friend who never forgot a face or a birthday. Brian is predeceased by his daughter, Margo. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Laurie, his daughter, Nayda (Chris), his son, Nolan (Iman), his grandchildren: Carlena, Samira, Billy, Meena, and Zara, his sisters Nancy Roberts (Neil) and Maxine Rollins (Colin, predeceased) and brother, Alex (Kris). He is also survived by in-laws, several cousins, and many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the staff at the Abbotsford Cancer Clinic, and the Abbotsford Hospital. A celebration of life will be held in the future. The Brian Thomasson Memorial Scholarship has been set up through the Langley School District.
