Edith "Donna" Gustafson, died peacefully at Christine Morrison Hospice on Nov. 23, 2022. She was born and raised in Matsqui. Both her parents were Swedish settlers who came to the area in the early 20th century. She attended the Vancouver General Hospital School of Nursing. After her graduation, she worked in a variety of locations and settings throughout the Province.
Donna spent many years working in northern BC. She had a great love for the north and was honoured to be able to work with the First Nations people while employed at the Public Health Unit in Hazelton.
She finished her working career in Abbotsford, where she again worked in the Public Health Unit. She was proud to be a nurse and proud of her ability to contribute to the health of others and to the community.
She was very active after her retirement. Donna loved to travel with friends and visited many countries. She belonged to three bridge clubs, was active with the Abbotsford Senior Center, the Scandinavian Club, and friends and family.
A person with strong opinions, Donna none the less had a large and loving heart. She could always be depended on for support.
She is survived by her niece Deborah VanEtta, nephew Joel VanEtta and his wife Lori, great nephew Jesse VanEtta, and cousins Neil Jure, Linda Babbini, and Stephen Taylor.
She leaves behind her dear friends Jane Squires and Susan & Jane Riddell.
A Memorial Tea will be held at a later date. Her friends and family ask for kind thoughts and actions toward others in her memory. Contributions to the Christine Morrison Hospice in her honour would be welcome.
