August 21, 1924 – February 25, 2016
Leonard passed away peacefully in Maple Ridge McKenney Creek Hospice at the age of 91. He leaves behind his loving wife, Ruth, of 67 years, his son Philip, son-in-law Christopher (Jeanette), grandson Wyatt, three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Leonard was born the last in a family of 13 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He lived in Crystal Springs/Birch Hills until the age of 17 and then moved to British Columbia. In 1948 he married his childhood sweetheart, Ruth Loveridge, and settled in Maple Ridge, B.C.
He tried his hand at several jobs, starting in the Pitt Meadows peat bog. He worked in a Lead foundry, then spent many happy years employed at Golden ears Park until his retirement in 1989.
He was an ardent baseball fan, enjoyed traveling and loved working as a woodsman on the various properties he and his family owned. Most of all he will be remembered for his love and support of family, leaving them with a legacy of memories.
He was predeceased by his parents, all his brothers and sisters, and much beloved daughter Leona and grandson Daniel.
He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed – the true measure of a life well lived. Our special thanks to Dr. Dennis Chapman, and especially to the staff and volunteers at Maple Ridge Hospital and McKenney Creek Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
