Mary Catherine Mcdonald

October 31, 1924 – September 3, 2020

We are sad to announce that our Mom has passed away. Mom was predeceased by Dad (Joe McDonald) in 2005.

Mom was born in Revelstoke, raised in East Vancouver and lived the rest of her life in Dewdney and Mission. Mom was a proud Registered Nurse, she graduated from nursing just after the Second World War and then while doing some private nursing met and looked after Dad as he recovered from emergency appendix surgery.

Mom was predeceased by siblings Bernard, Des, Johnny (Lex), Monica (Don) and Colleen (Jack). She is survived by siblings Tom (Eleanor), Theresa (Kevin) and Anne Marie (Bill).

Mom is survived by her eight children Tom (Karen), Mary E. (Ron), Susan (Larry), Peter (Anna), John Paul (Honeycomb), Irene (Brett), Jo-ann (Bernie) and Mike. She has dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss their spirited grandmother greatly. She will also be missed by many nieces or nephews, many of whom spent great times with Mom and Dad and our family while visiting and at get togethers over the years.

Mom had a way to make us all feel the joy she felt at being around us while pretending to be annoyed by us to great fun by all. We will miss her so much.

We would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Carrington House Retirement Residence in Mission, the Fraser Health nurses and home support and the staff at Mission Hospital.

Due to current pandemic restrictions mass will be by invite only. Mass will be on September 12, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mission, BC.
