Survivors are her husband and best friend of over 51 years, James L. Billingsley; two sons, Jimmy Billingsley (Carmen), Robbie Billingsley (Andrea); two daughters, Amy Buquoi (Mike), Sarah Wood; brother, Robert James Earle (Olga); eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Carolyn loved talking about her grandkids, reading, tending to her collection of plants, and talking about her cows. She was a great conversationalist and was always up for a good debate or discussion.
She was an avid genealogist and did extensive research on her family and for others. She was a founding member of the Saline County History and Heritage Society. After her children were grown, at age 41, she decided to go to college where she prospered, graduating from UALR with honors maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, studied in Austria as a Fulbright Scholar, then earned her doctorate degree from Rice University.
Her accomplishments and the number of friends and colleagues she touched from the history and genealogy fields are too great to list.
