To The Vega Family, 
I thought about Mr. Daniel Vega yesterday, because I knew that today was the first anniversary of his passing, and I said a prayer for him.   I was thinking about the emails we exchanged in the spring of last year, when he was studying so hard to finish law school and take the Arkansas Bar examination.  In particular, he sent me an email saying that he was so very proud of his son, that he loved his son very much, and that he had just gotten his son a suit for the prom, and that, seeing his son in that suit, was one of the happiest times for him as a father.  It is important that his son know this. 

I shall always remember Mr. Vega with admiration, respect, and much affection.  He is in Heaven and his spirit will always be with his loved ones, even if his body is no longer on this earth.

You are still missed dear friend Daniel, I met you very young, in the Court of Monterrey N.L. Mexico. Those of us who met you immediately realized your great worth as a person and your willingness to achieve your goals. Every time I remember you, I raise my prayer to God for your exceptional beautiful soul.

Breaks my heart to think I won’t see you again in here . You we’re genuine, bright and a true gentleman. A wonderful dad for sure ..

Daniel always could make you smile, lift your spirits. His smile was so infectious. Daniel was a good friend of mine from the salsa dancing community, and his passing absolutely breaks my heart. He was always ready to dance his heart out, tease you, listen to you, give wise advice, and just have fun. I loved our deep conversations, and I admired his drive and persistence in life. He had such a big heart and a humility about him that was beautiful. I will miss him. I will miss dancing with him. I have lifted up so many prayers for his family and friends during this time of horrible grief and will continue to do so.

Daniel was a phenomenal Sailor. One of the best I’ve ever served with. He was always cool as a cucumber, even managing full time recruiting and full time law school. Always loved catching him in his office on a day when he brought his son into work with him. I have no doubt he would have been a great addition to the Wardroom. He will be sorely missed.

Daniel was in my legal research night section in 2021 and it wasn't long before our long, impromptu conversations after class turned into a friendship. He challenged me, both inside the classroom and in our many friendly debates. So glad I got to know such a top-notch person. 

It was an honor for me to have known Daniel these last four years.

I recall meeting Daniel for the first time during orientation for law school. He was super friendly and struck up conversation with me. We got along well and we would frequently study together. I have a child about the same age as Daniel’s son, so many a time our study session would turn into us talking about our kids. It was clear to me how much he loved his son.

My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace. You will be missed my friend.

Daniel was my classmate at the law school. He was a very deep and intentional thinker. We spent several nights after class standing in the parking lot next to our cars talking about class, life, and general life philosophies. When I was considering applying for Air Force JAG, Daniel talked me through what military life is like and encouraged me to complete the application. When I decided to pursue a career with Legal Aid instead, Daniel was one of my biggest cheerleaders. I am keeping his son in my thoughts. He was so incredibly proud of his son. May he rest in peace. 

My deepest condolences to Daniel's family and friends. I often interacted with Daniel in the law library. He was always friendly and kind, and whenever I helped him with research I was struck by how hard-working and diligent he was. He will be missed here at the law school.

Daniel was one of the most kind and caring people I have met. When I transferred to Bowen Law he was the first to reach out in friendship to make me feel welcome - we were fast friends. That was how he rolled...always being kind and considerate of others. He had a wonderful laugh and a beautiful smile! He had the most amazing work ethic of any student or colleague I can recall in my personal or professional life.  If there was a challenge, he would put his head down and work even harder to make it happen successfully. Such a gentleman! He jumped into the midst of a rather vigorous discussion in Constitutional Law class one night when he thought I was being treated unkindly or unfairly. That was the Daniel I knew and will always hold in a very special place in my heart.
Very special prayers for his son, of whom he spoke of to me on a number of occasions and of whom he was very proud. Prayers for his family and all other friends who will miss him more than I can even imagine.
From one veteran to another, Daniel, I salute you, my friend. Rest in Glory and Eternal Peace!

Mr. Vega was my student in all four courses I taught at the UA Little Rock Bowen School of Law, he was an asset in every course because he was an intelligent, hard-working, and dedicated professional.  He talked about his goal of getting a law degree (a second law degree because he already had one from Mexico) in order to be able to help others.  He was a kind and sensitive person.  

My thoughts and prayers go to his son, his niece, his parents, and all his family.  May he rest in peace now that he is in Heaven with God.

So sorry to hear about Daniel’s passing. I was stationed with him at NOSC Little Rock from 2015-2018. He was always upbeat and loved serving in the Navy. I remember him having big plans of going to law school and getting a commission. 
I remember Petty Officer Vega being super passionate about the Navy and volunteering to be a recruiter so he help others join. 20 years of service later I still remember my recruiter and every Sailor he helped joined will remember him as well. 
If they are remembered, they are not gone truly, they simply changed duty assignments and are amount our nations best.

So sorry to hear of Daniel's passing.  He was a student of mine in law school.  He will be missed.  My deepest condolences.

The cookouts! He was always down for a night of grilling. We would be out there for hours talking about life and sharing old stories with one another. He had a great sense of humor and was an incredibly deep thinker.
