

Florence Elizabeth Brown Estes, 79, of Little Rock passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Elizabeth was born on November 10, 1943, in Little Rock; the daughter of Earl and Estelle (Jacobs) Brown. In her early 20’s she worked as a salesclerk at Pfeifer-Blass department store, the predecessor of Dillard’s. Subsequently, she worked for many years at Curly’s on 12th Street and then later went on to manage/own the restaurant. She closed it in the mid-80’s and went back to school in her 40’s and earned her GED, and then enrolled in college at UALR and earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and english. She worked for the Buddy Raines State Farm Insurance Agency for 38 years until retiring. As a teenager she was baptized and was a member of the Church of Christ. Her family fondly remembers her joy of learning and laughing with her sisters when reminiscing and storytelling. Elizabeth loved to read and to buy and sell furniture at flea markets and going to estate sales with her nieces. She and her husband, Harold, bought and restored a 1910 house in downtown Little Rock near the Quapaw Quarter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, her sisters, Juanita Hazelwood and Betty Crain and a brother, Johnny Brown. She leaves behind a sister Billie Styers (Melvin) and a brother Joe Brown as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
A graveside memorial service will take place at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, beginning at 3:00pm. Burial will follow in the park.
