Joshua Mark Claxton, 27, left us on December 21, 2024. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Jill; siblings Carra, Spencer, Seth, Katherine, and Evan; grandfather Michael Claxton, and grandmother Gail Wingfield.
Josh was born on April 16, 1997 to Mark and Jill Claxton in Little Rock, Arkansas. After graduating high school in 2016, Joshua went on to study Recreation and Sport Management at the University of Arkansas, where he graduated in 2021. He then went on to work at Pediatrics Plus, where he loved working with preschoolers and made an impact on the lives of both his co-workers and the children he cared for. In early 2024, he began pursuing a Master’s degree in Sport Management at UALR. He was currently serving as the manager for the UALR men’s basketball program, which was one of his proudest accomplishments.
One of Josh’s greatest passions was sports, both playing and watching. He especially loved the Razorbacks, Dallas Cowboys and LA Lakers. He loved playing basketball all throughout elementary, middle, and high school. During college, he discovered a love for disc golf and enjoyed playing with the University of Arkansas disc golf club. After he graduated, he was an active participant in disc golf tournaments all over Arkansas.
Joshua was the third child of six. He was always the life of the party at every family event, especially over the holidays. Beyond his family, he was a beloved member of every community he was a part of, making friends everywhere he went, always bringing people together. Though it seems like we will be forever waiting for Josh to come home for Christmas, the truth is, he is now the one waiting for us to come home to him. Until that day, we are determined to carry on his legacy by loving and caring for others.
Many words, even books, will be written about Joshua’s kindness, confidence, and charisma; though they certainly will not be able to capture the experience of feeling his care.
A funeral will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM at Pinecrest Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
