Larry Rogers Welch

Larry Rogers Welch, 84, passed away at 5:30am on Saturday, 31 May, 2025 at home in Little Rock, AR. He was born to Albert and Allie Welch on 9 Dec, 1940 in Morrilton, AR near Wonderview in Conway County. He was the 9th grandson, born at 9pm, and weighed 9 lbs 9 oz. He was preceded by his brothers Eugene Welch and Morley Welch, his sister Pauline Bailey, and his grandson Zack Massey. He has a surviving sister, Mildred Sayles. He met the love of his life and his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Baker) Welch surviving, on Main Street by the bank in England, AR. They married on 12 Feb, 1960. The ceremony was officiated by Larry’s grandpa Elbert Morley Harrington and was held at Mr. Harrington’s house in Conway County.

Larry was a deacon at Oakhurst Missionary Baptist in Little Rock in the 1970s, a 32nd Mason, Watchdog Dad at his great granddaughter’s elementary school in the 2010s, Head of the Crystal Valley POA in the 2020s, and a born again Christian baptized the same year as his two daughters, Cynthia Dennis and Carol Massey.

Larry worked at Arkla Gas, and later at Ben Hogan Road Construction where he was a foreman. His team at Ben Hogan received many safety awards and newspaper mentions and photos for safety standards. Larry also worked for EC Rowlett Road Construction and later owned his own business, Road Signs, Inc. He retired from Pulaski County in the County Clerk and Assessor’s Office.

Larry is survived by: his wife Dorothy Welch, his sister Mildred Sayles, his daughters Cynthia Dennis and Carol Massey, his son in law Michael Dennis, his grandson Timothy Dennis, his granddaughter Hailey Davis, his great granddaughter Ivy Dennis, great grandson Jackson Dennis, his brother in law Don Sayles, and a host of nieces and nephews from the Welch and the Baker sides of his family.

Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church of Bryant on Saturday, 7 June, 2025. The viewing starts at 1pm, funeral service is at 2pm, and food will be served at the church directly following services. There will not be a graveside service.
