Malenda was born on December 8, 1961 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to Anne and Fred Smith. She married Byron Barger on July 9, 1983. They had two children together.
Malenda worked as a nurse and spent time fostering children for the state of Arkansas before eventually adopting four more children to love and care for.
Malenda is preceded by her father, Fred Smith.
Malenda is survived by the following: Husband, Byron Barger; Mother, Anne Smith; Sister, Rebecca Barger; Brother, Britt Smith; Children, Nathan (Jozette) Barger; Nicole (Chris) Carter; Jamie, Marcus, Joshua, and Cameron Barger; and her five grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the Little Rock Church of Christ at Breckinridge Village, 10301 N. Rodney Parham Road
