

Peggy was born on May 28, 1938 in Barling, Arkansas to Eberly and Louise Byrum. She was valedictorian of the Class of 55 at Charleston High School.
Peggy was known for her beautiful smile, blue eyes and sweet personality. She often received compliments on her beautiful silver hair. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church for 41 years. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her presence will be deeply missed.
Peggy married Charles on Valentines Day in 1985. In 41 years of marriage they shared an incredible life filled with love, laughter, travel and family. They began and ended everyday with a smile, a kiss, and saying I love you.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Charles Penfield, brother Jerry Byrum (Alana) of Ft. Worth, Texas; son Lance Penfield (Lawanda) of Bryant; son Layne Penfield (Stephanie) of Bryant; son Danny Chism of Hot Springs, daughter Lana Stovall (Shane) of Benton and daughter Dianna Chism Stanley (Roy) of Pueblo, Colorado. She was loved by her grandchildren Jennifer, Christa (Justin), Lauren (Chase), Austin, Hunter, Dylan (Natalie), Clayton, Logan, Marshall,Nikita and Collin and great grandchildren Blakely, Davis, Drake, Wyatt and Walker. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Eberly and Louise Byrum and her sisters Helen Vann and Glenda Martin.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at Pinecrest Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Bryant. Visitation is set for 12:00 pm with the service to follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place immediately following the service.
The family invites all who knew her to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made in Peggy’s name to Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in Little Rock or St. Jude’s Medical Center in Memphis.
