Stanley was the seventh child born to Dorothy Scott and was adopted as an infant by John and Ennistine Thompson. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood and was fond of spending time with friends, riding horses and hunting with his father, riding motorcycles as a teen, and participating in school sports.
During his youth, Stanley attended Cullen Baptist Church in Cullen, Louisiana. He graduated from Springhill High School in 1981 and later earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Grambling State University in December 1989.
Stanley relocated to Arkansas, where he was employed at Jenkins Memorial Center and later with the Arkansas Department of Correction. He retired from the State of Arkansas on April 1, 2003, after many years of dedicated service.
On October 22, 2007, Stanley was united in Holy Matrimony to Jacquelyn Denise Carter, and they remained faithfully married until his passing. Through this union, Stanley was blessed with five bonus children Emmanuel Rice, Keturah Rice, Gabriel Kelly, and Joshua Rice and one son, Kevin Bryant, whom he raised from six months old.
Stanley accepted Christ many years ago and faithfully served as a Deacon at St. Matthew Church of God in Christ in North Little Rock under the leadership of Bishop Jerome Strickland and Lady Earnestine Strickland. He later became a devoted member and Deacon at Walk by Faith Church of God in Christ in Jacksonville, Arkansas, under the shepherdship of Pastor Jimmy Brewer and First Lady Donna Brewer.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Scott; his parents, John Thompson Jr. and Ennistine Taylor-Thompson; his sister, Doris Scott; his brothers, Ronal Scott, Kenneth Scott, and Rickey Scott; and his sister, Katherine Thompson.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 18 years, Jacquelyn Thompson; his bonus children Emmanuel Rice, Keturah Rice, Gabriel Kelly (Ivey), Kevin Bryant (Brittany), and Joshua Rice; grandchildren Grant Williams, Ja’Miya Jackson, Ke’Audi Jackson; siblings Beverly Paige, Timothy Scott, Rosalind Thompson, and James Scott; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Following the funeral service, please join the family for a repast to continue celebrating the life of Stanley Scott Thompson. Your presence and shared memories are the greatest comfort.
