Steve Kendel

Steven “Steve” Kendel passed away on May 12, 2023 at the age of 48, after a courageous battle with cancer. He has been described as unabashedly himself regardless of what anyone might think and he demonstrated the freedom to speak his mind with a great sense of humor, often sprinkled with sarcasm.

Steve served as an Avionics Technician in the Navy aboard the USS America for two years. After the Navy he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems at UALR, and he worked various jobs until he left the workforce to be a stay-at-home dad. Steve was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and was blessed to be able to attend opening day this year with his family.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Skip and Pat Kendel, and sister Jamie. He is survived by his wife of 21 years Amanda, his children, Ryan age 17 and Zoey age 11, sister Melissa Kendel and nephew Brendon and niece Cailey, and sister Sarah (Jayson) Hamilton and nephews Wells and Reeves.

Memorial service will be held May 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Pinecrest Funeral Home 7401 Highway 5 N Alexander, AR, with burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park 10401 Highway 5 N Alexander, AR. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
