Loving Son, Brother, Grandson, Nephew, Uncle, and Friend
Cameron Kristopher Evans blessed us with his birth on December 12, 1997 in Fairfax, Virginia and retuned back home to our Lord and Savior on November 19, 2013 at 3:13 pm surrounded by family and friends; family and friends whose lives were enhanced in immeasurable ways throughout his short, yet memorable life.
Cameron’s life would seem too short to many but those who were touched by him, understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His generous, contagious spirit and larger-than-life smile melted the hearts of those around him. With the heart of a lion and the courage to match, he leaves us believing that each day is a blessing as well as an opportunity to create lasting memories.
Cameron attended TC Williams High School where he was a member of the Wahoo swim team. He loved to play lacrosse and was an active member of the TC Williams team. And, he consistently made honor roll. Cameron loved other sports and played many other sports as a young child including football, baseball, soccer, and basketball.
Cameron loved to listen to music and, believe it or not, loved to cook, clean, and – we all know – he loved to eat!! He had a fascination with bright colorful socks likely because bright and colorful best describes his personality. His favorite color is red. Cameron enjoyed cruising for hours on end on his long board with many of his friends. Cameron loved his family and always kept them entertained with his comical persona and quick wit. Cameron enjoyed traveling; his favorite and most memorable trips were those summer vacations spent with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins in Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas. Cameron was driven to give to his community by supporting the less fortunate and was particularly interested in helping the homeless, especially homeless veterans – a philanthropist who always remained humble.
Cameron is survived by his loving and devoted parents Bennie Jr. and Dina Evans, both of Alexandria Virginia, and his brothers Bennie III "Trey" and Quinton Evans; paternal grandparents, Bennie Sr. and Linda Evans of Shreveport, Louisiana; maternal grandfather, David Gregg of Bristow, Oklahoma; a brand new niece, Natalia Alexis – the 'Princess' he was so excited to meet –as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members as well as numerous friends that will miss him immensely.
Cameron was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal great-grandparents, his maternal grandmother Mary, and two young cousins Donté Matthews and Amber Gregg, whom we know have welcomed him home.
With Cameron’s passing we are reminded that his life is one to be celebrated. Even in death he continued to give - this time by offering his organs to others - a true gift - a gift of life. Although we will miss him every moment of every day, Cameron will forever remain in our hearts.
