

Carroll Dority (Age 92) of Fort Washington, Maryland passed away September 29, 2024 at Elance Memory Care in Alexandria, Virginia. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina on June 2, 1932 to Carroll Dority Sr. and Agnes West Dority. The oldest of five, he graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1956 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Carroll worked as a Patent Examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for 44 years before retiring in 2000. During retirement, Carroll and his wife of 62 years, Marybeth, enjoyed travel to 82 countries and much of the United States. He was a self-taught pianist, an avid gardener, and loved going out in his boat, the King Crab, that he owned for fifty years. In addition to his wife, Marybeth, Carroll is survived by his daughters, Kim (Steve) and Laura, five grandchildren (Alexandra, Braden, Carleigh, Caroline and Jillian), one great-grandchild (Sterling) his sister, Edith Lucas, and his brother, Thomas Dority. He was predeceased by this brothers, Richard and Julian Dority. Carroll’s amazing life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 26th at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia.
