Edward M Thorne Jr.

Born on July 24, 1934 in Bridgeport, CT, Edward graduated from Fairfield University, enlisted in the US Air Force and was stationed in Japan, where he met his wife Chizuko.

Edward retired from the Department of Defense after 31 years of service. He was always active in his community, coaching girls’ soccer, participating in the local bowling league, driving a school bus and volunteering for elections. Edward was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church, serving as a lector and catechist. He was an avid reader and fluent in Japanese. Above all, Ed cherished time with his family and grandchildren, especially the annual family pilgrimage to Cape Hatteras, NC.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Chizuko, his sons John, Patrick, Andrew (Judith), Anthony and daughter Kathleen Tindal (John). He will also be greatly missed by his eleven grandchildren, Michelle, Christa, Justin, Jackson, Madeleine, Matthew, Emily, Leo, Anja, Sean and Anna.
