 Obituario de Frances H Bauer

EN EL CUIDADO DE

Demaine Funeral Home

Frances was born in Queens, New York to Henry and Marie Hartmann, who were German immigrants. She always had very fond memories of her days growing up in Glendale. She met her future husband Frank, also the son of German immigrants, at a dance/concert. It was love at first sight for both. They married in January 1952 after Frank was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. What followed was 23 years of many military assignments including Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Vicksburg, Mississippi; Fort Sheridan, Illinois; Murnau, Germany; Moses Lake, Washington; Livermore, California and finally settling back in Alexandria, Virginia. Included with these assignments was the arrival of six children. Frances always said all she ever wanted was to be a wife and mother and she definitely embraced that role. With a husband that had tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam there were many times that Frances was wearing both hats of mother and father. After Frank’s military retirement in 1975 they remained in Alexandria, Virginia. They were one of the first members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Frances spent many hours volunteering at either her kids’ activities or church functions. She could be found staffing the high school football concession stand as part of the Marching Majors Band Boosters. She ran the popular German booth at the Good Shepherd International Festival for many years. In addition she taught religious education, led a team that prepared and served meals at Christ House, served as an offertory money counter, and ran the George’s Neighbors Senior Citizen group for many years. Even in her later years she volunteered by providing baked goods for funeral receptions. Frances was an excellent cook and baker. She was well known for the many different types of Christmas cookies she would bake each year and distribute to friends and family. One of her favorite past times after Frank retired was taking off on day trips to various places throughout Virginia. They were known to go out grocery shopping and end up having lunch in an out-of-the-way small town that they decided to explore. She enjoyed many family beach trips with all her children and grandchildren in Duck, North Carolina. After Frank passed away, she enjoyed taking trips with her daughters to places like the Outer Banks, North Carolina, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Lake Anna, Virginia, Orlando, Florida and Deep Creek, Maryland. Frances is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank. She is survived by her six children, Richard Bauer (Susan) of Dare, Virginia; Diane Morrison (James) of Stafford, Virginia; Susan Clubb (Bruce) of Alexandria, Virginia; Linda Bauer (Lisa Petty) of Dupont, Washington; Paul Bauer (Leslie) of Beaufort, South Carolina; and Eileen Bauer of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren Katherine Carofine (Christopher), Matthew Clubb, Taylor Bauer and Haley Bauer. Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Saturday, February 11, at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 13 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Highway, Alexandria, VA 22309. A reception will immediately follow at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
