Geri was born to Andrew and Gertrude (Pat) Arnold on August 8, 1933 in Eden Valley Township, Minnesota. She graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1951, and married Don Logeais in August 1955.
Geri was preceded in death by her husband Don, of 68 years. She is survived by their five children: Dee (Jay) Bouley, Keith (Dianne) Logeais, Kevin (Donna) Logeais, Maurice (Debbie) Logeais and Rene (Leslie) Logeais, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Geri was the consummate Air Force officer’s wife, and her support helped Don achieve the rank of Major General. She was always dedicated to family, husband and country. She helped set up homes for their growing family in Texas, Nevada, South Carolina, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey and Virginia. She could whip together a party for 8 to 80. But what she was really known for was her talents in the kitchen. She was an outstanding baker, and everybody knew the highlight of the meal would be when she brought forth one of her delectable desserts.
She was actively involved in many facets of volunteerism, including the Red Cross, serving lunches or refreshments at her children’s schools, acting as den mother for her sons and helping with many fundraisers. Geri was a very accomplished pianist, lending her support by accompanying churches and other local choirs. Through the years, she continued to dabble in crafts, especially the fiber arts and became an expert in all types of needlework.
After 32 years in the USAF, they put roots down in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria, Virginia. During this time, she continued perfecting her talents in fiber arts, with many of those projects given for charity or fundraising, such as Nellie’s Needlers. She and Don were very dedicated in helping their parish, Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, where Geri lent her musical talents with singing in the funeral choir. During Don’s time as Grand Knight of the Mount Vernon Knights of Columbus, she assisted him with many projects and dinners.
Geri and Don loved to do crossword puzzles, playing cards and games and had a life-long love of polka dancing. Family memories were made with birthday and holiday gatherings across the country, including winter vacations in Florida and summer lake times in Wisconsin.
The one thing you’ll want to remember about Geri is that she loved the color red, and wore it whenever she could. It was her signature color. It always made her feel happy. A Funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA on Wednesday, November 20th at 10:30am, with visitation beginning at 9:30am. A luncheon will be held following the Mass. Burial will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
