

James W Snowden passed away on April 12, 2013 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Raised in Whittier, CA, he was a graduate of La Serna high school, an alumnus of Cal State Fullerton and a member of Phi Kappa Tau. Jim married the love of his life Cheryl, and raised their three children in the San Diego area before moving to Florida, then Pennsylvania and finally Alexandria, Va. He enjoyed a thriving 18 year career at AT&T. Jim was an active member of alumni associations, volunteer organizations, men’s bible studies and along with his wife mentored couples through a Preparing for Marriage program at Mclean Bible Church. Movies, music, photography, baseball and traveling were his passions and he enjoyed sharing them with others. His infectious laugh, excitement and love of life affected everyone who knew him. His family and friends are his legacy. He is survived by his wife Cheryl, his children Mark (Larissa) Dennstedt, Kelly Dennstedt, Michael Snowden, grandson Luke Dennstedt, siblings Sharon D Snowden, David (Sharon K) Snowden, Suzanne (Scott) Bowman, nieces, nephews, step-mother Doris Snowden and mother-in-law Peggy Ferrell. He is preceded in death by his parents James F and Marilyn J Snowden and father-in-law Leon Ferrell. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 20th at Mclean Bible Church Loudoun Campus at 1:00pm. Donations can be made in Jim’s honor to the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
