Jesus Arnulfo Quintanar Yanez

Jesus Arnulfo Quintanar Yanez (Chucho, Chico or Chico Suave), age 75, passed away at his home in Margate, Florida on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. He was born on May 27, 1947 in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. He and his mother, brothers and sister migrated to the United States of America around 1968.

He lived in the Washington, D.C. area until 2019 when he decided to move to the warmer climate of Margate, Florida. Jesus married Lou Ella Berry in 1971 and had 3 children. They divorced in 1998. He was preceded in death by his mother, Enriqueta Yanez, and his oldest brother Jaime Yanez. He is survived by his sister Maria Mucino (Jorge) and his brother Jorge Yanez (Karin) and daughters Jennifer Yanez (Greg) and Jessica Yanez (Geovanny), his son Jesus Alberto Yanez and his granddaughter (his favorite girl) Bianca Yanez.

In his younger years, he was a waiter in DC Spanish restaurants including El Tio Pepe in Georgetown and La Sangria on Connecticut Ave, NW. After working at the General Services Administration, Providence Hospital and Southview Apartments for several years, he became a self-employed contractor and moved to Alexandria, Virginia. In his later years, he got into real estate.

He was an extremely hardworking man, who loved to party. He especially loved to dance salsa and get the ladies on the dancefloor. He was a people person, making friends wherever he went. He was well known for his homemade “HOT” sauce as well as his cooking and loved sharing with friends.

There will be viewings at Demaine Funeral Home located at 520 S. Washington Street, Alexandria, VA on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 1 pm - 2 pm followed by a memorial service from 2 pm - 3 pm. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon from 3 pm - 6 pm at Primo Family Restaurant located at 1636 Belle View Boulevard, Alexandria, VA.

According to his wishes, his body will be cremated.
