Nicholas James Christ

It is with great sadness that the family of Nicholas James Christ announces his unexpected passing, on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the age of 40 years. Nick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 9 years, Melanie and his children, James (8) and Collin (6). Nick will also be fondly remembered by his mother, Bonnie, his grandmother Melvina, and his brother Matt.

Nick was born on January 4, 1978 in Hamilton, MT. Shortly after his birth, his parents moved to Alexandria VA. Nick grew up in Waynewood attending the elementary school there, followed by middle school at Carl Sandberg and high school at West Potomac. Nick moved back to Montana to live with his father, Glenn and graduated from Hamilton High School. Nick took a few years off after high school before attending the University of Montana, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. Nick enjoyed a successful career working as consultant focused on Federal Government contracts, and was happily employed with Wordwide Technologies, Inc. at the time of his death.

Those who knew Nick understood his passion for music, the outdoors, the Redskins, and most importantly his family. Nick was always comfortable with a guitar in his hand and had a gifted ear. He and Melanie loved being outdoors and spending time hiking, camping, and relaxing in the wild. Nick, Mel, and the kids recently hiked to Baker Lake in the Bitterroot Valley, MT this summer when the family gathered for his Grandmother’s birthday. Nick was (and certainly still is) a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins, and could always be found Sunday afternoon watching the games with the boys and friends. Ultimately - Nick’s greatest love was for his sons, James and Collin, and his bride, Melanie who grounded him and helped him get along in this world like no one else could.

A Gathering of Family and Friends in memory of Nick will be held on Sunday, September 30 at 3:00 p.m., at the Demaine Funeral Home 520 South Washington Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. A Memorial Service celebrating Nick’s life will be held on Monday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church 8531 Riverside Rd, Fort Hunt, VA 22308 Rev. John Baker officiating.
