Norman Pierre Freret passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026. A lifelong resident of Alexandria and cherished member of the Tauxemont community, Norm will be remembered for his quick wit, strong work ethic, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
Norm was a devoted father to his only son, Ian Jennings Freret, and dedicated his life to providing for his family. He found great joy in coaching Ian in various sports, sharing his love of sports both on and off the field. Known for his storytelling and warm personality, Norm was a familiar face at Village Hardware, where friendships and after-hours conversations became lasting memories.
A 1965 graduate of Fort Hunt High School, Norm went on to build a successful 30-year career with American Airlines, retiring as Supervisor of Customer Service.
Norm spent more than 70 years in the little white family home he loved dearly and was a loyal friend to all who knew him. In retirement, his greatest happiness came from time spent with his beloved grandchildren, Peyton Elizabeth Freret and Collins Averie Freret, proudly cheering them on at soccer and softball games. Family gatherings were never complete without his famous fried chicken.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian Freret and Agnes Elizabeth Freret. He is survived by his siblings Payne, Charlie, Mary, Carol, and Michael, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Norm will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor. Details will be shared on the Demaine Funeral Home website and his Facebook page.
