Bob was born in Rumford, Maine on May 15, 1925 to parents Patrick and Elvira Fogarty. He was one of five children.
Joining the Army during World War II, Bob served as a member of the infantry in the European theater. He went on to be a part of the liberation of Austria where he was awarded two Bronze Stars. While in Austria, he met his beloved Lucy, who would later become his wife. After returning from the war, he took advantage of the GI Bill and learned to fly.
Bob and Lucy moved to Florida where he started an aerial advertising and crop-dusting business. Soon after, in 1955, he joined Eastern Airlines, where he checked out as a Captain. His love of flying led him to share his knowledge with his fellow airmen as a Check Captain.
After 29 years with Eastern Airlines, Bob retired in 1985. He and Lucy spent their summers in the mountains of New Hampshire hiking the Glen Trails at the foot of Mount Washington.
Bob is preceded in death by his beloved Lucy, sisters Patricia McQuillan, Millicent Fogarty, and Marge Boehlert. He is survived by his brother George (Ruth), and his children. Susan Spiller, Linda (Greg) Plesko, Robert (Dianne) Fogarty, Patrick (Melinda) Fogarty, fifteen grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Everyone will remember best how he could always find four-leaf clovers in a field of green and his spot-on Donald Duck impersonation.
While Bob achieved many things in his life, his family treasures most the example he set as a faithful and loving servant of God.
