

On May 17, 2015, in Alexandria, VA. Born to Leo and Elizabeth McCaffrey on December 22, 1957. Sister to Lee and Terrence. Proceeded in death by her parents. Shellyn is survived by her brother Lee (wife Mona) and Terrance (wife Nancy) both of the Pittsburgh, PA area. As well, she is survived by nieces Kendra, Katarina, and Ava, and nephews Shawn and Ryan. She graduated from Baldwin High School in the Pittsburgh area, 1975, Penn State University, BS Political Science and Economics, 1979, and American University, JD, 1988.
At the time of death, Shellyn was the Chief Operating Officer of Quality Assured Cleaning Contractors and was as well President of McCaffrey Entrepreneurial Consulting Services. She was formerly a partner in McCaffrey Braley Consulting Services. Shellyn served as Deputy-Under Secretary of Labor, Bureau of International Labor Affairs under President George Bush. She as well served as Associate Deputy Secretary , U.S. Department of Commerce.
Shellyn was a horse enthusiast. She loved all the horses she owned through the years. Shellyn’s current horse Violet, a registered Irish Draught Mare, held a very special place in her heart.
Shellyn was a vibrant Christian who more than anything loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a dedicated student of the Word of God.
Visitation will be at Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA, Wednesday, May 20, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Demaine Funeral Home Thursday, May 21, at 11 a.m. will luncheon to follow for friends and family. Interment will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, VA, Friday, May 22, 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to all of these opportunities to celebrate Shellyn’s life and what she meant to us.
