Barbara Schmidt Fowler

Born October 31, 1938 with her identical twin, Beverly Schmidt Garner, in St Louis, MO to Harold H. Schmidt and Doris Kirstein Schmidt. The daughter of a preacher, Barbara spent much of her childhood moving to different states to follow her dad's ministry. She moved to Apopka, FL to complete her high school years at Forest Lake Academy and then to Southern Missionary College where she graduated with her Bachelors degree as a Registered Nurse. Barbara and her husband, Gary Fowler, settled in Forest City, FL in 1960. She was passionate about her 45 year nursing career with Florida Hospital, mostly in the Emergency Department.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her 4 beloved grandchildren, fishing and boating with her husband of 58 years, reading and baking. She dedicated her life to Jesus and caring for her family and others throughout her nursing career.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Gary N. Fowler and her brother, H. Lane Schmidt. She is survived by her son Douglas N. Fowler and his wife Tammy of Apopka, FL, her daughter, Kimberly Fowler Thompson of Winter Park, FL, her grandchildren, Caitlyn Fowler, Abigail Fowler, Sara Thompson and Neal Thompson, and her twin sister, Beverly Schmidt Garner and her husband, Julius of Apopka, FL.
