Cristina Godoy Oliveira

Born in Tacuarembó, Uruguay, she was the daughter of the late Higinio Godoy Castillo and Elvia Dastugue Lopez. She moved to the United States in 1971 where she began a life of new opportunities.

Cristina was a woman of remarkable strength and resilience. Throughout her adult life, she never allowed disappointments to define her, instead choosing to live each day with grace and determination.

A lover of the theater later in life, she found joy in attending performances with friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling and got to visit some amazing locations, including a once in a lifetime safari visit to Africa.

Above all, Cristina was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She cherished being able to spend time with her grandchildren and family. She was undoubtedly the best caregiver to her grandchildren in their formative years. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Veronica Oliveira (and son-in-law Stuart Fieldhouse); Carol Rodriguez (and son-in-law Kurt Rodriguez); grandchildren Bryana Rodriguez and Alexander and Eloisa Fieldhouse; sister Luisa Raquel Godoy Dastugue and family.

Per Cristina’s wishes, the family will have a private viewing. Her ashes will be taken to Uruguay at a later date to rest in peace beside her parents.

Cristina’s warmth, humor and unwavering love have left an indelible mark on all those who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of her family and friends.

Con profundo pesar y gran tristeza, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Cristina Godoy Oliveira, de 76 años, el sábado 18 de enero de 2025, rodeada del amor de su familia.

Nacida en Tacuarembó, Uruguay, era hija de los fallecidos Higinio Godoy Castillo y Elvia Dastugue López. En 1971 se trasladó a los Estados Unidos, donde comenzó una vida llena de nuevas oportunidades.

Cristina fue una mujer de notable fuerza y resiliencia. A lo largo de su vida adulta nunca permitió que las decepciones la definieran; en su lugar, eligió vivir cada día con gracia y determinación.

Amante del teatro en su vida posterior, encontraba alegría asistiendo obras con amigos y familiares. También disfrutaba viajar y tuvo la oportunidad de visitar lugares increíbles, incluyendo un safari en África.

Sobre todo, Cristina fue una madre y abuela dedicada. Disfrutaba inmensamente pasar tiempo con sus nietos y su familia. Sin duda, fue la mejor cuidadora de sus nietos durante sus años formativos. Su familia era su mundo, y valoraba profundamente cada momento que comportía con ellos.

Sera recordada con amor por sus hijas, Verónica Oliveira (y su yerno Stuart Fieldhouse); Carol Rodríguez (y su yerno Kurt Rodríguez); sus nietos Bryana Rodríguez, Alexander y Eloísa Fieldhouse; y su hermana Luisa Raquel Godoy Dastugue y familia.

De acuerdo con los deseos de Cristina, la familia tendrá una ceremonia privada. Sus cenizas serán llevadas a Uruguay en una fecha posterior para descansar en paz junto a sus padres.
