

Danny Folsom Ellis of Longwood, Florida was born on April 22, 1948 in Pike County Alabama and passed away peacefully in his home on July 19, 2016. Danny was a dearly loved husband, father and grandfather and he loved his family. A life-long Florida State Seminole fan, Danny Ellis graduated from that university majoring in Government. Danny’s entire career was spent as a teacher in public schools in Georgia and in Florida. He was a popular and respected teacher at Edgewater High School in Orlando for 29 years. In 2016 Danny was inducted into the EHS Quarter Century Club which was established to thank and honor staff and teachers for their outstanding commitment and loyal service to the school. He taught History, Government and Sociology. Danny was especially interested in politics on a national and local level. He also had a keen interest in history, government and social issues and was an avid reader. He had a special love for plants and gardening. More than anything, Danny was a devoted family man. His nickname was “Pops” and he always enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Evelyn (Quigley) Ellis; daughter Jenny Ellis (Tim Hendrick); son Mark Ellis (Stacey) and granddaughters Layla and Riley Ellis. His mother, Nadine Ellis and his siblings, Elaine Smith, Rhonda Trepak, Gary Ellis, Lee Ellis as well as numerous nieces and nephews, also survive him. In memory of Danny and his passion for politics, please vote in the upcoming 2016 Presidential Election. A memorial service and interment will be held graveside on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at Highland Memory Gardens, located 3329 East Semoran Boulevard in Apopka, Florida.
