Edith Mohabeer

Edith Mohabeer was born on January 12, 1938, in Kitty, Guyana. She is the daughter of the late Partab Patrick Hookumchand and the late Edith Permaul. Edith attended St. Winifride's Roman Catholic School in Newtown , Kitty. She met Vibert Mohabeer and they were married on September 30, 1961. Edith and her family migrated to Bronx, New York in 1980. Edith worked at Rashti then Alexander's in Manhattan, New York. She loved to listen to music, dance, travel, crochet, cook, bake, play dominoes, solve puzzles and play computer games like mahjong and others. She got her greatest joy from her children and seven awesome grandchildren. In 1991 Edith and her family relocated to Altamonte Springs, Florida. Edith was preceded in her passing by her brother, Fitzroy. She is survived by her loving husband Vibert Mohabeer; daughters Jacqueline, Yonette and Amanda; grandchildren Elizabeth, Kristina, Keith, Kevin, Nicholas, Patrick and Rachel; siblings Esther and Ronald; sons-in-law Christopher, Neville, Hubert and Andrew; a multitude of in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Edith has gone to a higher place and her memory will linger in our hearts forever. She will be lovingly remembered by many relatives and friends for her kindness and most of all her cooking.
