Born February 4, 1945 in Paterson, New Jersey, Ed graduated from Temple University High School in Philadelphia before pursuing a teaching degree at West Chester University. There, he met and married Kay Lesnick (Kessler) in 1966.
Ed was a beloved social studies teacher at Kennett High School for 30 years. He spent many years coaching the boys soccer team and eventually the first girls soccer team at Kennett HS.
He moved to Florida in 1997 to escape the northeastern winters and taught social studies and technology to middle school students for another 15 years at Teague Middle School in Seminole County, FL.
In retirement, Ed and Kay were active members of the Orlando Quaker Friends Meeting and Ed served as Recording Clerk of the Southeastern Yearly Meeting.
Ed was a lifelong sports fan who cheered on the Flyers as they won the Stanley Cup in the 1970s, the Phillies as they made playoff runs in the 1990s, and was a FC Barcelona supporter in the 2000s, even traveling to see a few games in person at Camp Nou in Barcelona with his wife Kay. Locally, he loved to cheer on the Orlando soccer teams from his season ticket holder seats in the second level right behind the goal.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Ed was a historian who was curious about the past, present, and future. He loved to spend his time researching and was always evolving to keep up with the changes in his world.
In 2019, his long-haired dachshund Max became the new boss of the family, bringing much joy to all who know him.
Ed is predeceased by his parents Jack and Mildred Lesnick (Halpern) and his son Jason Joshua (J.J.) Lesnick.
He is survived by his wife Kay Lesnick, his daughter Dr. Joy Lesnick (Polly Hayes), and his grandson Anthony.
A Quaker celebration of life will be held on Saturday March 14 at 4pm at the Orlando Friends Meeting House at 316 E. Marks Street, Orlando, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any charitable donations be made to the Orlando Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.
