Yvonne was born on April 19, 1938 in Hawkins County, Tennessee to William and Elizabeth (Perry) Hurd. She was the youngest of 11 children.
She graduated from Ketron High School in 1957. She met her would-be husband, Kenneth “Ken” Donovan, a young enlisted Army Serviceman, at a bar in 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland. A few months later, Yvonne and Ken wed at the Justice of the Peace. The military moved them to Germany. The couple welcomed their first son, Kenneth “Kenny” Donovan, Jr. in 1967. The military then moved them to Maryland and they welcomed their second son, Gregory “Greg” Donovan in 1969. In 1970, Yvonne, while her husband was serving his country in the Vietnam War, raised their two infant sons by herself for one year. In 1978, they welcomed their daughter, Angela “Angie” Donovan.
Yvonne was a loving, devoted wife and sister. She was a consummate mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed planning and preparing meals for her family and friends. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. Over the years, she found peace with art by creating colored pencil drawings. Yvonne was an amazing seamstress, creating clothing, window treatments and reupholstering furniture through the years. However, the thing she enjoyed most was time with family.
Yvonne will be remembered as a lady with a great sense of humor who loved to laugh at life’s humorous moments. Her love and loyalty allowed everyone to be whomever they were, talents or faults, with unconditional devotion.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Kenneth Donovan, Jr., Gregory (Jennifer) Donovan, Angela (John) Palmerini; grandchildren, Michael and Pierce Donovan and Robert and Juliana Palmerini; siblings, Edith Moshier and Ann Schubert.
