James (Jimmy) Peter Kalogerakus age 64 passed away at his home in Longwood, Florida on Tuesday September 2nd, 2025, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. In the past weeks he was surrounded by his family and friends.
Born November 17th 1960, he was the youngest of six children. He was raised in the Greek Orthodox Church, and was a lifelong resident of the Orlando area. James was a devoted Brother, Uncle, and Dog Dad to his beloved golden retriever; Mick. He graduated from Lyman High School in 1978 James prided himself in his work as a chief and restaurant manager.
He had a kind and generous heart, and enjoyed the simple things in life. The beach was his happy place! He liked to fish, and had a good eye for art and collecting. James never took life for granted! His message to us, is: Life, no matter how long you have, is never long enough. Love one another and don’t wait to do your bucket list. And, most of all, James said; he will miss us! Let us remember him for his kindness, compassion, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; Pete and Helen Kalogerakus. Siblings, George Hurd, Barbara Scarborough and Sylvia Bittenger. He is survived by two sisters; Angelena Constantine, and Mardeen Lillethorup, Nephew Jamie Lillethorup and Nieces, Michelle Eury, and Jaydeen Lillethorup, cousins, and great nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday 9/27 in New Smyrna Beach at Breakers restaurant at 10:45AM.
