Kathleen (Katie) Smith Conrad, 49, of Chuluota, Florida, passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, June 1, 2025. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on April 8, 1976, and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, before choosing to live her professional and private life in Central Florida. Katie received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2000 and completed her General Pharmacy and Pediatric Pharmacy Residencies at Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, from 2000-2002. Katie then moved to Orlando, Florida, and started in her first role as a pediatric pharmacy clinical specialist.
A devoted professional throughout her career in Central Florida, Katie was committed to improving pediatric patient outcomes in cardiology and medication safety initiatives.
She met her future husband, Ryan Keith Conrad, through a “blind date” delicately coordinated by mutual friends. Katie and Ryan spent much of their time together, having fun with friends, traveling the Caribbean, and attending music concerts. They later shared a spectacular wedding with family and friends on May 14, 2011 at one of their favorite vacation destinations, Key Largo, Florida.
Katie and Ryan went on to build their home in Chuluota, Florida, began raising a family, and expanded their family of life-long friends in the Oviedo, Florida area.
Some of Katie’s notable, personal interests included wine tastings, exploring interesting restaurants off the beaten path, music on No Shoes Radio (NSR), and anything to do with “Island Life”. She loved spending time with her family and was a dedicated wife and mother, above all else.
Katie is survived by husband Ryan, daughter Julie Elyse (10 yrs), daughter Kallie Michelle (7 yrs), father John, mother Kathleen, brother Daniel, brother Patrick (wife Michelle), Kayla (niece), Connor (nephew), and many loving extended family members.
Friends and family may gather beginning at 9:30 AM with a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Friday June 13, 2025 at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home (994 E. Altamonte Dr. Altamonte Springs, Florida 32701), followed by a social gathering at Fiddler’s Green Pub (544 W. Fairbanks Ave. Winter Park, Florida 32789) from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Katie’s name at the Advent Health Foundation – Central Florida (Link below under "Donations")
