Naomi Jean (Lafontaine) Myers, age 86, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 peacefully in her home of 40 years in Casselberry, Florida. She was born in Plattsburgh, New York on August 7, 1931 - the daughter of the late Alphonse “Tot” Lafontaine and Lucy Naomi (Edie) Lafontaine. She was a cheerleader at Dannemora High School, and graduated as part of the Class of 1949. She married George Stewart Myers in Dannemora, New York on November 27, 1950. With her husband, they raised their three children in Dannemora, then relocated to Albany, NY for several years before George retired from the Department of Corrections in 1978. They moved to Casselberry, Florida where they created a new home filled with friends, family, and unimaginable neighbors who were just like family. Always the “Night Owl”, Naomi worked the night shift at Denny’s for over twenty years, where she was popular with all of her “Regulars”. And, as a couple, she and George were loyal members of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, FL. George predeceased her on August 27, 2014. Naomi, Queen Mother, Q.M., Mother, Grandma, Gr Grandma, and Miss Naomi was always delighted in having loved ones around. She loved to tell stories, teach others, and be surrounded by laughter. She didn’t hold back and it was that larger than life lust for life that will leave a lasting impression on so many. As a child, Naomi loved going to the Edie camp on Lake Iroquois in Hinesburg, VT. As a wife and mom, she loved entertaining, baking, spending time at Chazy Lake and making her secret “Michigan” sauce. She also delighted in seeing the Chicago Cubs win a World Series, knowing George would have been pleased. As Grandma and Gr Grandma, she may have gotten her favorite joy. She loved spoiling her Princesses, Princes, Dolls, and Beauties rotten with Disney, dolls, dollhouses, pretend weddings, dress-up, home baked treats and so much more. They were her pride and joy, and she delighted in their visits and in sharing her history and memories with them. As part of the “Wilshire Crew” her door was open all night to catch up, laugh, enjoy life, and perhaps enjoy a glass of wine…right until the end. It’s with tear filled eyes that we say thank you. Thank you for your tremendous love, your feisty spirit, and the 1000 hugs and kisses. Naomi is survived by her sister Virginia “Ginger” (Lafontaine) DiNitto, her three children: David Myers and wife Michelle of Ivyland, PA, Dimitri Myers of Bloomington, Illinois, Craig L. Myers & Karen Lefebvre of Covington, GA, her six Grandchildren: Jennifer and Justin, Kyle and Lynze, Katlyn, Adrienne, Alexandra, Emily, her six Great Grandchildren: Taylor, Makayla, Rylan, Logan, Leeland and David, and her beloved cats: Mindy and Maggy. She will also be remembered by many dear friends and her amazing neighbors Diane & Chet, Renee, Bob & Linda, Dina & Jim, Wilma & Elliot, Rory & Marie, Pat & Marie, Bob & Deb, Pam, Donna, the neighborhood children, and many many more. She was also predeceased by her two brothers Adrian L. Lafontaine and James H. LaFontaine, as well as her sister Patricia J. Stevenson.
