Verna “Granny”, 92, was born on February 19, 1923 in Shelton, Washington to her late parents Benjamin E. and Winifred Peckham. Verna moved from Washington to Connecticut and then to Hollywood, Florida in the early 1950’s. After the passing of her husband Walter Engel, Verna moved to Mount Dora, Florida in 1975. She worked on and off as a bank teller throughout her life for places such as Barnett Bank. Verna was a talented artist. She enjoyed painting realistic pictures and portraits of friends and family. She received several awards for her creations at the Mount Dora Art Festival. Verna was preceded in her passing by her husband Walter; brothers Benjamin and Tommy Peckham; and daughters Beverly Smith and Bonnie Kuzmick. She is survived by her four grandchildren Rick Kuzmick, Kimberly A. Bergstresser, Robert Smith, and Jeff Kuzmick as well as her seven great grandchildren Avery Smith, Mason Kuzmick, Sydney Kuzmick, Aidan Smith, Ben Bergstresser, Grace Bergstresser, and Anne Bergstresser.
