William Steven Poole, Steve, passed away peacefully at home with his family on January 14, 2024 at the age of 88. Born on August 14, 1935, in Salisbury, NC, he moved with his parents to Jacksonville, Fl when he was three years old.
Steve attended University of Florida, and graduated from Florida Southern University, where he met his wife of 50 years, Daris Ann. He had a brief stint in the Air Force before being discharged due to a knee injury he suffered while playing football in high school.
Steve enjoyed a successful career in the fine printing paper business as a dedicated salesman. Through his work, he not only achieved professional milestones but also made life-long friendships with colleagues and clients alike.
As passionate true blue UF fans, Steve and Daris loved to attend Gator football games both home and away, creating memories that would be treasured for a lifetime.
Steve was a man known for his kindness and generosity. A man of integrity, he went out of his way to lend a helping hand to others, expecting nothing in return. His acts of kindness touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and selflessness. Let us celebrate the vibrant life he lived and the positive impact he had on the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Daris, and his parents Cecil and Lois Poole. He is survived by his daughters Stevi and Christi, four grandchildren, Jordan (Sarah), Jade, Jacob (Helen) and Cole, and two great grandchildren, Joah and Jory.
Stevi and Christi would like to thank his caregiver, Marie, for being such a blessing for our dad. She showed such tenderness, patience and caring and we could not have gotten through the past year without her.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Steve’s life at a later date.
