Born on a farm in Ryan, Oklahoma, Barbara was known as the "switch kid" in her family. She moved to Amarillo at the age of 7 and attended Amarillo High School. A lover of country western music, she was passionate about dancing and cherished the joy it brought her. Barbara had a strong work ethic and worked for many years at Kress Department Store and later at H&R Block. She spent her final years doing taxes from her home, where she continued to connect with her clients and help them navigate their finances.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed the family gatherings that brought her loved ones together. She was deeply spiritual, growing up in the Assembly of God Church, and carried that faith throughout her life.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Mama and Papa Brown, her siblings Earnest, Olin, Alma, James, Elzie, Calvin, Dewell, David, Elva and Irene as well as her daughter, Charlotte June Blackwell, her husband Ray "Sonny" Honea, her daughter, Pamela June Mauney, and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sons, John Blackwell and wife Kay; Charles Blackwell and wife Claudia; her grandchildren, Roger Mauney, Jason Mauney and wife Charlotte, Anne-Marie Harris and husband Andy, Andrea Blackwell, Ryan and wife Hanna, and Connor and wife Emily. Barbara is also survived by two great-granddaughters, Addyson Harris and Claire Blackwell.
Barbara's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
